San Francisco Agile Meetup: Using Agile with Large, Geographically Dispersed Development Teams
Monday, February 22, 2010 – 11:14 PMThanks to everyone who attended my talk this evening. I had an awesome time and loved the amount of enthusiasm and the great questions.
As you may have noticed… there’s a lot of material to cover. Here’s some references to more content which adds depth. If you have any questions post a comment here and I’ll reply to it.
Surveys of agile adoption at Microsoft, papers from Microsoft Research:
Pair Programming: What’s in it for Me? – Andrew Begel & Nachiappan Nagappan
Usage and Perceptions of Agile Software Development in an Industrial Context: An Exploratory Study – Andrew Begel & Nachiappan Nagappan
Distributed agile development, papers and talks by Ade Miller:
Distributed agile Development: Experiments at Microsoft patterns & practices (deck & video)
Distributed Agile Development at Microsoft patterns & practices (white paper)
Large scale agile development at Microsoft, slide decks, papers and videos:
Introducing Agile in the Very Large: Microsoft Developer Division’s Journey – Sam Guckenheimer
Scaling Agile Up and Out: A Tale from the Trenches – Ade Miller
Agility and the Inconceivably Large – Ade Miller
The talk at Agile 2009 on using virtual reality software–like Second Life—is here:
Using Virtual Worlds for Distributed Agile – Keith Voos, Ami Hileman
Here’s the blog post I wrote about agile managers as facilitators. I was really impressed by some of the things Diana had to say and wished I’d heard them six months earlier as the Visual Studio Tools for Office team was moving to a more agile approach.
Agile 2007 Sessions – Diana Larsen’s “Stimulating Success Agile Managers as Facilitators”
I’m sure there was something else I promised to link but I can for the life of me remember what it was. When the video becomes available I’ll post details.
You can also download the slide deck. This is very similar to decks I’ve given in the past so it doesn’t appear on the Talks page as a new item.
Thanks again to everyone who attended.
