amoult - You need to download and install the XP version of Samsung Connection Manager 1.6.9.0101 which works well but, in Vista compatibility mode and also Run as Administrator , else it locks up in the settings menus.
It is reported to also run in XP SP3 compatibility mode.

Martin

I am UK. Sorry but I am not aware of any differences between EU & US versions. Isn't Samsungs website with all the sofware, drivers & firmware suitable for all versions? The Aero works fine.

My NC10 has been working excellently and almost keeping up with my Dell. The only problems I have had are with Acronis latest software and found it best to keep with previous versions.

xyzbird,

thanks for the report. In what country are you located? Did anyone use a NC10 United States version to upgrade from Win XP to Win 7? I have upgraded to 2 GB RAM and a 320 HDD, but have not seen anyone reporting on my graphics adapter question from Nov 2nd. Help appreciated, thanks.

I clean installed W7 Family Pack on my Samsung NC10 and Dell Raid 530s with no problems. File & settings transfer was a lengthy process. Drivers & software all updated to W7 from Samsung site on NC10. I found that the XP Play Camera 2.0.0.15 worked with sound.

Previously I had replaced memory with 2gb Crucial SODIMM 800mHz DDR PC6400 200 pin.

Also changed HDD for 320gb WD Scorpio Blue SATA 8mb cache 2.5". Used Acronis True Image to transfer 3 partitions. Put original 160gb into a Smart Drive caddy HD3-SU2/B for external backups etc.

One thing I have noticed is that the Dell performs the W7 boot screen with the coloured flags but Samsung only does the green ribbon. I understand that this is due to screen size and W7 resorts to Vista boot screen.

So far I don't think I will go back to XP. W7 has lots more features especially in the help & support. Both PC's show about 7gb more than there was on XP even with .old and restore points (have Acronis backup) cleared out.

The Fn + F7 old Doctor facility now runs Samsung Support Centre. Network set up between the PC's was fun.

Nick

thanks for your reply.
Did you use an European NC10 model to upgrade or a US version? I updated the Intel graphics driver, but the Windows 7 upgrade advisor still reports that my current graphics adapter will not support Aero.
Are there any US NC 10 versions that have been successfully upgraded? I believe the graphics adapter are different between the EU and US version. Any comments and clarification is welcomed.
Thanks

There is a solution to Easy Display Manager not starting automatically when Win 7 is installed on the D: drive in dual boot with XP.
When EDM is installed the installer points to C:\Program Files\Samsung\Easy Display Manager\dmhkcore.exe so the XP version is run at startup in Win7.
I had tried startup shortcut, batch files and adding additional Install_dir registry keys pointing to the D: installation but without luck.

The solution was to go to admin tools > computer management > task scheduler > task library.

Find the Easy Display Manager task that is set to run whenever anyone logs in, double click it and on the Action tab, change the 'c:\program files\samsung....etc' line to point to the correct system drive letter, D:

Credit for finding the solution goes to 'cheese' over on the www.sammynetbook.com forum
Full thread http://www.sammynetbook.com/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?38891.0

Hope this helps someone else

I have found that Easy Display Manager will only run if it is started manually. Placing a shortcut in startup does not to work either.

Anybody found this problem or know a work around?
Thanks

Nick: Windows 7 Upgrade is also for XP users.
I didn't have Grub anymore (for this I had to format and reinstall XP because Samsung's XP CD doesn't allow the Recovery Console R letter so you can't restore the Master Boot Record) and it went well, booting from the DVD.

Booting from inside XP didn't show up the unallocated space partition so I had to restart it booting from the Windows 7's DVD.
