Ward Cunningham leaves Microsoft

Monday, October 17, 2005 – 4:55 PM

Just under two years ago Ward started at Microsoft. I started the same day and Ward turned out to be the guy sitting next to me at New Employee Orientation. Obviously I was psyched to find Microsoft hiring people like Ward, and others, whom I hoped would get Microsoft thinking about improving the development process at all levels.

Since then I’ve bumped into Ward at a few of the local agile community events – he usually had something to say that made me think about the way I develop software.

As David Anderson points out, it’s not all bad. There are still plenty of other people at Microsoft who are thinking and working hard to better the way that we create tomorrow’s software. Still it’s sad when you loose someone who’s contributed as much as Ward.
