Certified Scrum
Thursday, October 13, 2005 – 1:45 PMI’m Certified!
The VSTO team has been working at ways to improve our agility for quite a while. During the second half of the Whidbey (Visual Studio 2005) ship cycle we’ve been slowly ramping up some supporting agile practices; continuous integration and some unit testing.
Recently we’ve taken the plunge and started using Scrum to manage our development process. I was lucky enough to get to attend Ken Schwaber’s two day Certified ScrumMaster course. So I got officially certified, although there’s a lot of evidence to suggest that was always the case right?
We’re not alone at Microsoft, there are a bunch of teams using Scrum. Several of them have been gracious enough to help us out getting started; sitting in on our Product Backlog planning and Daily Scrums. As well as offering a host of other advice.
So now we’re half way through our first sprint. Things seem to be going OK. I’ll be writing more about what I’ve learnt about ScrumMastering soon.
You can read more about Scrum at http://www.controlchaos.com/. Or read Ken’s book – it’s on my reading list.
